Sanctuary Records Group has set an Oct. 22 release date for the previously tipped “Live From Bonnaroo” DVD. Along with a companion double-disc CD released yesterday (Sept. 24), the DVD chronicles the inaugural Bonnaroo festival, which was held June 21-23 in Manchester, Tenn., and drew 75,000 fans to the rural setting.
The DVD “is a full documentary, including the [construction of the site] through the live performances,” Jonathan Mayers of promoters Superfly Productions recently told Billboard. “We even had a crew in traffic. This felt like an important event.”
The disc will feature 26 live performances, an artist photo gallery, set lists, biographies, a video trailer, and bonus footage and outtakes. It was produced by Larry Johnson (Neil Young’s “Year of the Horse”) and Arthur Rosato, and executive produced by Superfly and A.C. Entertainment. The DVD can be preordered through Bonnaroo’s official Web site.
A few of the songs included on the CD are reprised in video form on the DVD, but the latter also offers alternate selections from the weekend’s performances. Among the artists whose performances are featured on the DVD are Les Claypool’s Flying Frog Brigade, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Trey Anastasio, Jurassic 5, the Del McCoury Band, and Widespread Panic.
