Summer days are long, but the season always seems to end too soon. The memories we make don’t have to fade with the sun, however, and Canadian duo Dvbbs has the ’80s-inspired synth-pop sing-along to keep you warm through winter’s longest nights.
“Need U” builds on a steady beat and euphoric melody with catchy vocal hooks and electric guitar licks. It’s the third single to feature Dvbbs’ Alex van den Hoef on the mic, following in the footsteps of “Gold Skies” with Martin Garrix and Sander van Doorn, and “You Found Me” feat. Belly.
The duo says “Need U” is meant to capture “that feeling you get when summer is coming to an end, but the memories you made will last a lifetime.”
“The nostalgic Dvbbs vocals over our production is the formula we started with and nothing feels better than giving our day ones something brand new,” the duo is quoted in a joint statement. “‘Need U forever, forever’ is one we will sing until the end together.”
“Need U” follows Dvbbs’ “GOMF,” released in May. The duo will support the singles on a quick tour of North America from Aug. 24 to Oct. 19.
