Duran Duran and Kylie Minogue were the big winners at the 51st Premios Ondas award ceremony last night (Nov. 23) in central Barcelona’s Gran Teatre del Lyceu opera house. Both artists received special jury awards for their contributions to international pop music.
Estopa’s “La Calle Es Tuya?” won best album and David DeMaria’s “Precisamente Ahora” was awarded best song.
Manolo Garcia took home best artist, Bebe was named best new artist and El Canto Del Loco won best live performance. Other winners included Juanes for best Latin artist, and British newcomers Keane, who earned the best international artist honor.
The event is organized by radio group Cadena SER through Radio Barcelona, the longest-running radio station in Spain. A total of 24 radio, TV, cinema, and music awards were selected by a SER entertainment jury of 30 members; the ceremony was televised live by pay-TV channel Canal Plus.
