The gritty underbelly of downtown Los Angeles is the setting for the new video for Duke Dumont‘s slinky “Nightcrawler.”
Out today (Aug. 19), the clip features a pair of beautiful, mysterious spies moving through DTLA after dark in a hot white convertible, handling bags of money, seducing (then pulling guns on) the bad guys and ultimately finding that the villain isn’t who they thought it was.
The video was produced by Obra House, the company also behind videos including Lil Nas X’ “Panini,” Cardi B’s “Press,” and Megan Thee Stallion’s “Realer.”
Featuring twin sister vocalists Say Lou Lou, “Nightcrawler” is the lead single from Dumont’s excellent debut album Duality, released this past May via Universal Music.
“I’m happy I didn’t release an album in 2014,” Dumont told Billboard Dance upon the release of Duality. “It would have been made under a different mindset. The music would have been a little more disposable, (aiming) for Spotify charts and “oh, let’s get a top 10 again.” In hindsight, it gave me an opportunity to make an album and a body of music that has an emotional impact. [That] in my opinion is the meaning of art.”
