The Robertson family, a.k.a. the one and only Duck Dynasty, are looking past the silver screen and towards the Great White Way with their upcoming Duck Commander Musical. Yes, the people whose rise to fame started with a whistle helps you more efficiently hunt ducks and a reality show are taking their story to the stage with a new musical, based on their best-selling (really) book, The Duck Commander Family: How Faith, Family, and Ducks Built a Dynasty.
The musical kicks off its run tonight at Las Vegas’ Rio Hotel and Casino, promising a show “the entire family can see” with music that “fuses country, rock, gospel and pop.” The press release does not address whether any cast members are dressed as ducks, however.
Directed by the Tony-nominated Jeff Calhoun (whose previous credits include the stage versions of both High School Musical and High School Musical 2), Duck Commander should be, if nothing else, a theatrical experience you’ll not soon forget. Watch the show’s trailer below.
