On Friday (July 7), British dark-pop princess Dua Lipa dropped a visual for “New Rules,” a breakup track from her self-titled debut album.
Filmed by Henry Scholfield at Miami Beach’s Confidante Hotel on Collins Avenue — which is home to the city’s historic Art Deco buildings and extravagant nightclubs — Lipa and her girl gang are dancing in sync while clothed in a soft, pastel color palette.
The music video opens up with Lipa in a muted yellow minidress — one of her style staples — layered with a purple and green tropical-inspired, tie-front blouse. She accessorizes the look with a classic yellow gold chain-link choker and complementary stacked rings.
To enhance her natural beauty, the former model’s complexion is glowing with a light, iridescent highlighter on her cheeks and a clear, glittery gloss on her lips. Pulling it all together is a pair of flirty lashes and a perfected feline flick.
Halfway through the video, the singer and her girlfriends are clad in coordinating waffle-weave robes while primping for a night out — brushing each other’s hair and applying pink lipstick — before they all don crop tops and mini bandage skirts for a night out in South Beach.
As the evening turns into day and Miami’s sun shines bright, Lipa and her crew hit the pool while synchronizing their dance moves. Lipa is rocking a pair of gold-rimmed aviator sunnies with a yellow lens, a black triangle bikini set with a black sarong, a bright blue open-front crop top, and red lace-up sandals.
“New Rules” is the seventh single from Dua’s debut album Dua Lipa, which arrived June 2. Watch the full music video below:
