New West rockers Drive-By Truckers begin a U.S. tour April 20 at the Charlottesville (Va.) Pavilion with Robert Randolph. Included in the run are a string of West Coast co-headlining dates with Son Volt, beginning April 30 at the El Rey Theatre in Albuquerque, N.M. The band’s new album “A Blessing and a Curse” is due April 18, and the band will tour hard behind the project.
“We’re gonna tour a whole lot,” DBT frontman Patterson Hood tells Billboard.biz. “There’s some talk of us maybe going out as an opener this summer for a bigger act and maybe playing some sheds and arenas.”
The band, currently touring in Europe, will spend a lot of time overseas this year, Hood says. “We’ll be going to Europe three, possibly four, times to tour behind this record,” he says. “We’re definitely making it a priority to really break Europe because I think there’s such a wide open market for what we do over there.”
The Drive-by Truckers are booked by Frank Riley at High Road Touring in North America, and by Paul Fenn at Asgard in Europe.
