Drexel University’s student-run label MAD Dragon has expanded its relationship with Rykodisc and Cordless Records. Under the agreement, MAD Dragon Records and executives from Rykodisc and Cordless Recordings will work closely together to produce, market and promote emerging and established artists. Rykodisc will have an exclusive, first-look opportunity to sign artists from the MAD Dragon roster. The first artist to be released under the new deal will be Matt Duke.
Drexel University also announced that it has launched a new music industry course called “Cordless+,” which will allow students to interact with visiting Rykodisc and Cordless Recording executives.
MAD Dragon Records was founded in 2003 and has expanded from recording and producing only new releases to becoming a full-service company. Today, it includes a music publishing company, a concert promotion and booking agency, a music-related graphic design company, five recording studios, and a live performance recording team. MAD Dragon Records is the only university label to be distributed nationally through Ryko Distribution.
