D rake earns his 22nd top 10 on R&B/Hip-Hop Songs as “The Motto” (featuring Lil Wayne), the anthem that preaches the way of the Young Money assemblage, jumps 13-9. The song earns the Greatest Gainer/Airplay award with an increase of 3.5 million audience impressions, with WHTA (Hot 107.9) Atlanta contributing the largest single-station bump with an increase of 500,000 impression (up 31 spins week-to-week), according to Nielsen BDS.

“Motto” — a bonus track on his “Take Care” set — is one of two titles from that deluxe album in this week’s top 10 (and the fourth thus far). His effort with Nicki Minaj, “Make Me Proud,” holds at No. 2 and is one of three songs the female rapper is featured on in the top 10.
Lil Wayne, the ubiquitous featured act on “Motto,” gains his 28th top 10, seven of which have been joint efforts with Drake. Weezy’s top 10 count breaks a tie he held with Jay-Z, moving him into second place among rap acts for the most top 10s in the history of the 70-year old chart. Ludacris is the top 10 leader among the rap pack with 29.
“Lotus Flower Bomb,” Wale’s chart-topping love rap, remains at No. 1 on R&B/Hip-Hop Songs for a fifth consecutive week, with its audience impressions remaining flat at 33 million, 1 million ahead of Drake and Minaj’s “Proud.”
Big Sean sits still at No. 3 with “Dance (A$$),” featuring Nicki Minaj while proud mom Beyonce‘s “Party” shuffles 5-4, though her audience sum decreases by 6%. Queen Bey is also at cusp of adding another top 10 to her impressive chart legacy as “Love On Top,” her pregnancy announcement memento from MTV’s “Video Music Awards,” vamps 15-11.
Rick Ross, the head honcho of the Maybach Music Group, improves 6-5 with “You The Boss,” which becomes his 12th top 10 on Rap Songs (11-10). Former No. 1 “Ni**as In Paris” by Jay-Z and Kanye West continues its descent (4-6) in its 24th week on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs while the next two titles swap places with Young Jeezy’s “I Do” relocating to No. 7 and J. Cole’s “Can’t Get Enough” stepping backwards to No. 8.
At the end of the top 10, Wale closes it up with “That Way,” featuring Jeremih and Rick Ross (moving 9-10), the first single from Wale’s “Ambition” album. The single peaked at No. 4 in October and has maintained its top 10 presence ever since. Though, with it on the verge of slipping out of the top 10, Beyonce’s “Love on Top” may jump over it — and into the top 10 — in the next week.
Switching gears to the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, Tennessee native Yo Gotti finally makes his long-awaited major label album debut. The rapper spent three years cooking up “LIVE From the Kitchen,” which finally bows at No. 4 on R&B/Hip-Hop Albums with 16,000 sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
“Live” follows a slew of other independent albums released by the rapper before he signed with Polo Grounds through RCA. The new album’s first official single “5 Star” was released to radio way back in the summer of 2009 and peaked at No. 19 on Sept. 26 of that year. Since then, no fewer than five tracks from “Live” were released as official singles: “Women Lie, Men Lie” featuring Lil Wayne (No. 22 peak), “Look in the Mirror” (No. 97), “For the Hood” featuring Gucci Mane (No. 86), “We Can Get It On” (No. 31) and “Single” (No. 75).
Young Jeezy’s “T M:103 Hustlerz Ambition” holds steady at No. 2 for a third week (24,000; down 33% according to Nielsen SoundScan) behind Drake’s “Take Care” (32,000; down 25%). Also standing still is another previous topper — Rihanna‘s “Talk That Talk,” the No. 3 set on the tally (22,000; down 20%). This is the sixth time its been at this rank. Talk has sold 563,000 to date. Anthony Hamilton makes a move rising 8-5 in his fifth week on the chart with “Back to Love” (13,000; down 2%). “Back” has sold 147,000 since its debut Dec. 13.
As for the rest of the top 10: Jay-Z & Kanye West’s “Watch the Throne” holds at No. 6 (13,000; down 23%), Mary J. Blige’s “My Life II” is also steady at No. 7 (12,000; down 15%), Lil Wayne’s “Tha Carter IV” falls 5-8 (12,000; down 30%) and Amy Winehouse’s “Lioness: Hidden Treasures” slips 4-9 (11,000; down 37%). Closing out the the top 10 is Beyonce’s “4”, shifting down one slot to No. 10 with 11,000 (down 11%).
Top Dawg Entertainment owns the only other debut on the 75-position album tally as Schoolboy Q enters at No. 25 with “Habits & Contradictions.” The Los Angeles-based rapper is also a member of Black Hippy — a group he formed with Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock and Ab-Soul. “Habits” shifts 4,000 downloads of the digital-only set, which becomes the first of his two albums to reach the list.
