Newfoundland singer Damhnait Doyle will pair up CBC radio host Jian Ghomeshi to host the 2009 East Coast Music Awards live from Corner Brook, Newfoundland.
The awards show on March 1 will also be aired on CBC Television at 11 p.m., while CBC’s digital channel will air it live. Dynamic rock band Hey Rosetta! will play live on the show, along with singer/songwriter Jill Barber, and others including Tara Oram, Christina Martin, and Troy MacGillivray. The ECMA ceremony will also feature the reunion of Celtic-rockers Rawlins Cross.
“The East Coast Music Association heard loud and clear from artists, members and fans that a broadcast of the 21st annual awards show from Corner Brook was important to promote our artists and East Coast Music,” Steve Horne, executive director of the East Coast Music Association, said in a news release. “We’re excited to again partner with CBC to offer many opportunities for fans to get their fix of East Coast Music.”
Additionally, voting for The Fan’s Choice Award has commenced, and will run until Feb. 27. Votes can be cast at cbc.ca/eastcoastmusic or ecma.com.
