Live from New York, it’s Donald Trump!
The presidential candidate will host Saturday Night Live Nov. 7, NBC announced Tuesday.
Trump will appear from musical guest Sia.
Trump told The Hollywood Reporter in August that NBC had recently asked him to host, but he was unavailable. “I had a great time,” Trump said of his first time hosting the show in 2004. “They actually asked me to do it a second time, but I wasn’t able to do it because I was away.”
Trump’s turns as host comes several weeks after Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton’s appearance on the season premiere.
This is Trump’s latest appearances on NBC since he and the network parted ways in early July after he made what NBC deemed to be “derogatory statements” in which he referred to Mexican illegal immigrants as “rapists” bringing drugs and crime into the U.S. NBC replaced Trump with Arnold Schwarzenegger as the host of Celebrity Apprentice.
Speaking at the Television Critics Association summer press tour in August, NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt was open about the network’s separation from Trump, but also called him “a lovely guy.”
Although Greenblatt ruled out Trump’s possible return to Celebrity Apprentice down the line — “absolutely not,” he said — the network chief also said Trump was “absolutely” welcome on the network’s late-night shows. Trump appeared on Meet the Press in August and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Sept. 11.
