After more than two decades of flirting with the idea of running for president, Donald Trump finally announced his candidacy in June. The real estate mogul and TV reality star even predicted back in 1988 that he’d be victorious if he ever made the decision.
“I think I’d win, Trump told Oprah Winfrey in April of ’88 when pressed if he’d ever take the presidential plunge. “I tell you what: I wouldn’t go in to lose. I’ve never gone in to lose in my life. And if I did decide to do it, I would say I’d have a hell of a chance of winning.”

At the time, Trump said he little interest in being president but didn’t totally dismiss the idea. “I do get tired of seeing the country ripped off,” he said. “If it got so bad I would never want to rule it out totally.”
Time will tell if the billionaire will take the White House in 2016, but so far he’s leading the polls as the Republican front-runner. One thing is for certain, though — he hasn’t made any friends in the Latin music community. Stay tuned.
