Country legend and longtime gay icon Dolly Parton recently revealed that at 68 years old, she’s planning to add a new feather to her 10-gallon hat: Dance music diva.
Before you roll your eyes, hear her out—this isn’t just a Dolly Parton dance album, but a Dolly Parton dance album focused on LGBT pride.
“At some point I would like to do a dance record and I have several songs that are very positive towards the gay community,” Parton revealed at a press conference for her just-wrapped world tour. “I have a song called ‘Just A Wee Bit Gay.’ It’s a great little dance tune, it’s funny and it’s got a lot of comic in it… I do write a lot of songs along those lines with people that are different and are just themselves.”
Dolly’s Drag Queen Doppelganger & More Drag Divas
Parton has a long history as an LGBT icon, voicing her support for same-sex marriage years ago. She even secretly competed in a celebrity drag queen look-alike competition at one point in her life—and lost. “It’s a good thing I was a girl or I’d be a drag queen,” she explained.
