“On My Way” will track Blau’s journey to establish himself as an original producer (not just the mashup guy), but also provide insight into his personal life. The Las Vegas native recently took a leave of absence from Washington University in St. Louis to pursue music, despite a promising future as a business major.
Blau is a natural fit for mtvU’s programming, which targets the college demographic both online and on the air in over 700 college markets across the country. And the series compliments MTV’s growing “Clubland” broadcast, which has expanded from a late-night EDM video hour to the network’s dedicated dance music brand; “Clubland” recently made its prime-time debut on sister network MTV2 with a special Miami Music Week edition.
“On My Way” is also a middle ground of sorts: 3LAU’s story falls between those broadcast on the long-running “Made,” in which ordinary teens pursue lofty goals on camera, andthe newer “How I Made It,” which features big-name celebrities recounting their rise to stardom.
