Do you remember what you were doing two years ago today? Working? Gliding into pumpkin latte season? Releasing a massive electronic track with features from three of the hottest vocalists in the game?
If you happen to be DJ Snake, that last answer tracks. Two years ago today, on September 29, 2018, the French producer dropped his sinewy dancefloor heater “Taki Taki” featuring Cardi B, Selena Gomez and Ozuna.
As of its second birthday, the track has collected a cool 10 billion streams, received 20 diamond certifications worldwide and gotten a fairly astonishing 101 worldwide diamond certifications.
The producer celebrated this milestone today on Twitter, writing, “2 years of TAKI TAKI today, and I want to thank everyone who listened, partied, and vibed out to it. I’m in the studio working solo today but feeling thankful for the success of the record and shareing [sic] that success with Selena, Cardi & Ozuna.”
“Love you guys @ozuna @iamcardib @selenagomez,” he added. Gomez also replied with a handful of heart emojis.
“You don’t need money to be creative,” Snake told Billboard in his 2018 cover story, which published just ahead of the release of “Taki Taki.”
“The ghetto builds champions every day. I just want to show the kids in every ghetto in the world that we can make some hot s–t. We can change the world.”
