Epic will on Oct. 22 release DVD and CD versions of “Divas Las Vegas,” a collection of performances by top female stars Celine Dion, the Dixie Chicks, Cher, Stevie Nicks, Anastacia, and Shakira that took place May 23 in Las Vegas. The performance was aired on VH1 as the fifth annual “VH1 Divas Live” special.
The release will be available separately as well as in a combo package with the DVD and the audio CD. The performance, which took place at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand, finds the artists performing some of their own hit songs (Cher’s “Believe” and “Song for the Lonely”), tributes to each other (the Dixie Chicks and Stevie Nicks’ collaboration on Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide”), and covers of classic tracks, including a show-closing medley of Elvis Presley tunes.
The DVD and CD were mixed in 5.1 surround sound, and the former also includes a documentary featuring behind-the-scenes footage. A portion of the proceeds from the release’s sales will benefit VH1’s Save the Music Foundation, a non-profit organization that raises money for public school music programs.
