The Walt Disney Company has donated $1 million to help the victims of the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history.
On Tuesday (June 14), Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer announced over social media that Disney donated the money to OneOrlando, the organization created to raise money to help those most affected by the mass shooting, which occurred Sunday morning at a gay nightclub.
“We are heartbroken by this tragedy and hope our commitment will help those in the community affected by this senseless act,” Bob Chapek, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, said in a statement. “With 74,000 cast members who call Orlando home, we mourn the loss of the victims and offer our condolences to their families, friends and loved ones.”

In addition to OneOrlando, more than $3.6 million has been raised for victims through a GoFundMe campaign.
Forty-nine people were killed and more than 50 others inured Sunday when a 29-year-old gunman opened fire inside the nightclub.
The gunman was killed in a shootout with police.
