Disclosure, it seems, is searching for some real love. The house revival duo surprised fans this past Sunday at New York City’s Terminal 5 when they brought out a special guest vocalist, Mary J. Blige, on their tune “F For You.” Now, they have released an official video for the track featuring the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul herself.
Blige first teased about the collab via Twitter yesterday with a photo of herself overlaid with Disclosure’s iconic line-drawing face image. This morning, the UK group posted a teaser for the new “F For You” on Facebook, confirming the suspected collaboration.
The Blige collab adds to a busy week for the group’s Guy and Lawrence Howard. After playing three sold-out shows at T5, they performed “Latch” Monday night on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.” Earlier today, they announced the release of a new tune from Bishop Nehru, which they produced. This coming weekend, they’re expected to attend the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles where their debut LP, “Settle,” is nominated for Best Dance Album.
For her part, Blige is nominated for two Grammy Awards this weekend, as a featured artist on Kendrick Lamar’s album and his song “Now or Never.”
While a photo of the Lawrences with Q-Tip appeared on the rapper’s Instagram a few days ago, the group has not revealed what the nature of their collaboration is yet. The boys were also seen hobnobbing with Sting backstage on Sunday night, but no musical association is expected to result from that meeting, at least not now.
