While every day is women’s day in our book, March 8 is International Women’s Day, the officially designated holiday on which the world recognizes the accomplishments of ladies and pushes for greater gender equality around the globe.
On March 11-14, Dirtybird will commemorate the occasion with Women in Music, a four-day livestream event featuring sets from a gaggle of gals, including Louisahhh, Mija, LP Giobbi, Gina Turner and 21 other female-identifying producers. The event will also launch with a yoga session by Turner and other activities to be announced in the coming days. (See the complete lineup below.)
Streaming on Dirtybird’s Twitch channel, the event is co-sponsored by She Is the Music, an organization working to establish greater opportunities, inclusivity and equality for women working in the music industry. With a female COO, chief marketing officer and head of business operations, Aundy Crenshaw, Dirtybird is certainly one of the dance labels most walking this walk.
On March 8, famed French label Kitsuné Musique will host a 24-hour female-centric livestream in partnership with Shesaid.so, a community of women and gender minorities in the music industry. Featuring 13 up-and-coming female producers from around the world, the event will stream via the Bandsintown Twitch channel. Kitsuné and Shesaid.so have also created a fund to provide hardship payments of up to approximately $300 to freelancers, contractors and artists in the Shesaid.so community whose income has been affected during the pandemic.
