M.I.A. took to Twitter to cry foul when Interscope wouldn’t clear Diplo‘s remix of the Blaqstarr-produced “Bird Song” for release, and her gambit appears to have paid off.
M.I.A. Tweets Interscope ‘Won’t Clear’ Diplo Collab ‘Bird Song’
The original sounds like it was played on kazoos over some bass and a bit of Western guitar. It’s quite repetitive and totally bizarre. Diplo fleshes it out with more jangly guitar and removes some of those kazoo melodies. It really sounds like a bunch of jungle birds chirping in the Wild West now.
This remix appears on the singer and rapper’s upcoming album A.I.M., one she claims will be her last. It’s also the first time the two ex-lovers have made music together since they struck gold on “Paper Planes” and other tracks from M.I.A.’s Kala. Hear it below.
