Step aside, Dillon Francis. You were funny in Vice’s What Would Diplo Do? and perfectly-satirical in your web series Like and Subscribe, but the people of 20th Century Fox TV reportedly want your make-believe best friend, Gerald the piñata, intead.
According to Deadline, the “Get Low” producer and funny-man DJ has signed a deal with the studio to develop an animated comedy based on his popular mascot. Gerald is seen often in francis’ social media clips, depicted as Francis’ roommate and closest confidant.
Gerald’s World, as the show will reportedly be called, will feature co-creation credits from Family Guy writer Spencer Porter. Charlie’s Angels director McG’s Wonderland Sound and Vision will help produce the program. The company’s Mary Viola (I Feel Pretty, The DUFF) and Corey Marsh (Will & Grace) will also help produce, the site reports.
The announcement comes between Francis’ back-to-back headline performances at Coachella 2019. Get to know Gerald better in the video clips posted below.
