Comedic jack-of-all-trades Dillon Francis has a TV show in the works, a recent fashion line with Barney Cools and a possible addiction to social media, but he’s first and foremost a DJ and producer He’s been in the studio cooking up a new mixtape called Magic Is Real, and the lead single is ready to “Go Off (Nothin’ 2 It).”
Musically, it’s a bass-heavy house jam for the club crowd featuring a funky inspiratioanl vocal and some hip-rockin grooves. The video, directed by frequent Francis collaborators The Dads, brings its dance groove to life with some seriously-silly style.
Actor John Gemberling, aka Broad City character Matt Bevers, plays an unhappy guy who can’t seem to make any friends. He finds confidence and swagger in a three-step gyration sensation that anyone with a little grace and guts can do.
The Magic Is Real mixtape is set for a two-part release on Francis’ IDGAFOS imprint and Mad Decent. The first half hits Oct. 2 and features tunes with NoLa bounce queen Big Freedia, Trinidadian ragga soca artist Bunji Garlin and more, but you can get into the groove with lead single “Go Off (Nothin’ 2 It)” below.
