—Direct-to-consumer mobile content retailer SendMe has added EMI Music Group to its roster of label with which it has music licensing deals. The company can now sell ringtones from the EMI catalog. Earlier this month, SendMe finalized agreements with Universal Music Group and The Orchard.
—DIY ringtone creation and sales service Myxer has opened for business in the UK. The service lets unsigned and independent artists create their own ringtones and sell them from the Myxer Web site. In the U.S., some 13,000 bands use the service, which generates 10 million downloads a month. Other content includes wallpaper images and video clips.
—Muze is going mobile. The company’s database of media information and catalog of streamable music clips is now available for music services created for mobile devices. Additional Muze content includes reviews and other editorial information. Most online music services use Muze’s services today. The company is now targeting mobile music services as its next area of growth.
