Nettwerk America and women’s cable network Oxygen Media have teamed for a charity compilation album featuring female musicians, with proceeds going to Oxygen’s “Build Your Own Business” public-service program.
“Oh! From the Girls” will feature 15 songs by the likes of Dido, Avril Lavigne, Sarah McLachlan, Tori Amos, Aimee Mann, the Pretenders and Macy Gray. Most artists contributed previously released tracks, but a couple donated live recordings — Gray’s “Come Together” (Live) and an in-concert version of Amos’ “Cornflake Girl.”
Other contributors include Stacie Orrico, Sixpence None The Richer, Kathleen Edwards, the Be Good Tanyas, Sarah Harmer, Erin McKeown, Oh Susanna and Martina Sorbara.
As previously reported, McLachlan and Lavigne will share a stage for the first time next month when Oxygen presents “Sarah McLachlan Custom Concert featuring Avril Lavigne.” The show, to take place Nov. 4 in New York, will be broadcast Nov. 9 by Oxygen at 9 p.m. ET.
