Depeche Mode has christened its new album “Playing the Angel,” which, as previously reported, is expected to be released in October via Mute internationally and Reprise/Warner Bros. in North America.
According to the band’s official Web site, such tracks as “Macrovision,” “I Want It All,” “Sinner Me,” “Precious,” “John the Revelator,” “Suffer Well” and “A Pain That I Used To Be” are candidates to make the final running order. The album is being mixed in London by previous collaborator Steve Fitzmaurice.
The album will be supported by a fall North American tour, dates and venues for which have yet to be announced. A European run will get underway Jan. 13 in Dresden, Germany.
It will be the follow-up to 2001’s “Exciter,” which opened at No. 8 on The Billboard 200 and has sold more than 421,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
