Depeche Mode is canceling the opening night of its North American arena tour tomorrow (Nov. 2) at the Fort Lauderdale BankAtlantic Center due to power outages and curfew limitations post-Hurricane Wilma.
The show is being rescheduled for Nov. 3 at the St. Petersberg, Fla. St. Pete Times Forum.
All Nov. 2 tickets will be honored at the new location and refunds will also be available if fans cannot attend.
Depeche Mode’s manager, Jonathan Kessler, said in a statement that the band “was excited to launch the tour in South Florida. However, they’re not willing to jeopardize the safety of their fans, who would be putting themselves at risk traveling to and from the event under dangerous conditions.”
The tour, which is supporting the act’s new album “Playing the Angel” (Sire/Reprise), will continue through Dec. 9 at the Patriot Center in Washington, D.C. Supporting acts include the Bravery and the Raveonettes.
