
The Dallas Cowboys announced Wednesday (Sept. 3) that Michael Sam, the NFL’s first openly gay player, will be joining their team, and Demi Lovato couldn’t be happier.
NFL.com reported Tuesday that Dallas planned to bring Sam in for a physical. Sam, a defensive end, became a free agent after he was let go by the St. Louis Rams over the weekend. Dallas tweeted Wednesday that Sam would join the team and wear #46:

Lovato, who grew up in Dallas, responded with enthusiasm and plenty of emoticons:

The Dallas Cowboys will open the season against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. Lovato starts a world tour in Baltimore on Sept. 6.
