The initial slate of acts for Cypress Hill’s fourth annual Smoke Out festival, which this year will play dates outside of Southern California for the first time, includes hard rock act the Deftones, rappers Busta Rhymes and Afroman, and DJs Armand Van Helden and DJ Sneak. The itinerary for the tour has expanded from the initially announced three stops to four, with an Oct. 14 visit to Honolulu added to the routing.
Other acts slated to join Cypress Hill on the tour’s multiple stages are Redman, Method Man, Erick Sermon and Keith Murray, Suicidal Tendencies, Fear Factory, Long Beach Dub Allstars, and Kottonmouth Kings, as well as NOFX, who will be on the bills in Devore and Oakland, Calif., only. Additional artists will be announced in the coming weeks.
The confirmed dates and venues for the tour for are Sept. 29 at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, N.J., Oct. 6 at the Glen Helen Blockbuster Pavilion in Devore, Calif., Oct. 13 at the Oakland (Calif.) Coliseum, and Oct. 14 at the Kualoa Ranch in Honolulu.
“We’re trying to start small,” Cypress Hill’s B-Real said in a statement. “We know we’ve got something good but we don’t want to spread it out too much right now. We’re doing three [major] markets this year, and maybe next year we’ll do five or ten, and after that maybe a full-blown tour.”
