Death Grips, as they do, dropped a bomb this morning in the form of a new EP which features Björk on every track. Sort of.
The Sacramento-based band, which was signed and dropped from major label Epic after a bitter dispute that ended with a phallic middle finger and ro-shambo’d fans in Chicago last year, posted a link to the album, titled “niggas on the moon,” on Facebook at midnight last night. It’s the first part of a double album titled “the powers that b.”
Their note barely makes mention of Björk’s appearance throughout the record, which she tweeted about with an embed of the album (below). On the record, the Icelandic star is hardly recognizable outside of a few seconds here and there; the album is as manic and aggressive a spin as anything released in recent memory — it makes Swans sound like Tom Waits.
