Death Cab for Cutie has signed a long-term worldwide deal with Atlantic Records.
The modern rock quartet was previously signed to Barsuk Records, which released the critically acclaimed album “Transatlanticism” in 2003. The set has sold more than 225,000 units in the U.S., according to Atlantic. Barsuk retains rights to “Transatlanticism,” the rest of the band’s catalog and an upcoming live EP. Barsuk will also release future Death Cab albums on vinyl in the United States.
Death Cab wraps up a U.S. headlining tour this week, then will begin work on its first Atlantic set.
Meanwhile, singer/guitarist Ben Gibbard’s side project the Postal Service is in its 90th week on the Top Independent Albums chart with “Give Up” (Sub Pop).
