Country singer Deana Carter was arrested and charged with drunken driving early this morning (Dec. 21), Nashville police said. The arrest report said Carter was stopped for driving 48 mph in a 30 mph zone. The officer said he smelled alcohol on her breath.
The 35-year-old singer failed a field sobriety test and refused to take a breath test, the report said. She was taken before a night court commissioner and released.
Carter’s first album, “Did I Shave My Legs for This?” (Capitol) has been certified quintuple-platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America for sales of 5 million copies. Her latest album is the recently released Rounder holiday set “Father Christmas.” Copyright 2001 Associated Press. All rights reserved.
