
Earlier this month, deadmau5 announced plans to bring back “The Cube” that served as a central part of his live production on the tour behind 2010’s 4×4=12 album.
“Thinking about getting @taittowers on board to help engineer the cube,” the producer wrote on Twitter. “Once that’s done + music… Then I’ll tour like a madman.” The next day he added, “I’m only really looking to hopefully spend 2 million ish to get the cube show ‘upgraded’… should be enough to do some cool shit!”

He teased some of his engineering progress on Instagram this week, and “cool shit” has now been upgraded to “possibly the coolest shit in the world.” Take a peak at his process in the posts below. Instagram users were quick to offer creative suggestions: “Have the bottom layer made of a cage-like material, and have a few fog machines inside it, so when they do fall out, smoke will seep out,” or “You could have your cube slowly fall apart, 1 section at a time per each drop, and by the end of the set is has turned into something completely new.” One fan made a simpler request: “D-D-D-DROP THE CUBE.”
