From Eminem to Nicki Minaj, Michael McCrudden has explored the early lives of a number of household names for his “Before They Were Famous” YouTube series. Now, deadmau5 is the first dance artist covered on McCrudden’s channel.
Before “Faxing Berlin” and “Ghosts ‘n’ Stuff,” McCrudden explains deadmau5 was a spiky haired teen raver with a Pikachu backpack. His love of gaming and computers fused with his foray into raving culture and resulted in a multimillion dollar music career and numerous accolades.
Though deadmau5’s present-day life is well documented on social media, McCrudden gives us glimpses into Joel Zimmerman’s home life, from his unexpected friendship with Mötley Crüe‘s Tommy Lee to his experimental years in Niagara Falls, Canada.
McCrudden’s 10-minute YouTube doc is, for the most part, accurate, according to the mau5 himself.
