Back in 2013, the Dead Weather teased a new album with a seven-inch single (“Open Up (That’s Enough)” and “Rough Detective”) available only through Third Man Records’ Vault subscription service. Last year, two more tracks — “It’s Just Too Bad” and “Buzzkill(er)” — followed, but with no album announcement. Finally, the day has come — the Dead Weather will release a new album called Dodge & Burn in September.
The band’s press release gives no specific date, but assures the LP will include remixed and remastered versions of the four old songs, along with eight brand new tracks. Listen for yourself in the album sampler below:
More Jack White:
But what about Jack White saying he didn’t want to tour anymore? That still holds up; the Dead Weather’s press release confirms they don’t plan to tour behind the new album. Guitarist Dean Fertita (also of Queens of the Stone Age) and bassist Jack Lawrence (also of the Raconteurs) round out the lineup. Their first LP was 2009’s Horehound and the next year, the followed it up with Sea of Cowards, their most recent LP.
Those who subscribe to the Vault by July 31 will get a deluxe edition of Dodge & Burn, the “I Feel Love (Every Million Miles)” and “Cop and Go” seven-inch, and a special deck of Dead Weather playing cards.
