Heavy metal and bluegrass have become an unlikely match made in heaven, thanks to Canadian musician Dan Davidson’s side project, DD & the Butterlovers. The group uploaded a banjo-fied version of Megadeth‘s “Symphony of Destruction,” and it actually sounds really, really good.
Sure, it takes some getting used to listening to Davidson’s vocal twang and a violin play over lyrics like “Acting like a robot, its metal brain corrodes/You try to take its pulse before the head explodes,” but the group does an incredible job and blending the genres together. The six-piece band stands still playing their instruments, all wearing heavy metal band tees.
“An essential bluegrass classic,” the band jokes in the video description. Watch it below.
