Ray Davies has slated another round or North American tour dates, which will open July 1 at the Comerica Tastefest in Detroit. The run will be the former Kinks frontman’s second on the continent since releasing his debut solo studio set, “Other People’s Lives” (V2).
The brief tour will end July 22 in Austin, Texas, where Davies will tape an hour-long episode of the long-running PBS performance series “Austin City Limits.” He also has U.K. dates slated for late October and early November, including a two-night stand at Royal Albert Hall.
In other news, Davies has expressed interest in working with New Orleans’ Preservation Hall band. It was recently reported that the legendary group has been performing a version of the Kinks’ “Complicated Life” on stage. Davies, who lives in New Orleans, has plans to begin work on a new project following the North American dates.
Released in February, “Other Peoples Lives” bowed at No. 2 on Billboard’s Top Heatseekers chart. The set has sold 32,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
