Alternative Distribution Alliance senior VP/GM David Orleans has been named president of the company. Orleans is succeeding president and CEO Mitchell Wolk and will continue to be based in Burbank, Calif. He’ll report to WEA president and CEO Mike Jbara.
Orleans was one of ADA’s first employees, joining the company as West Coast sales manager shortly after its creation in 1993 and has since held a series of senior positions in the company.
Wolk, who succeeded Andy Allen as president in 2008, will remain at ADA as a consultant upon completion of the leadership transition and into 2011. “As Mitchell prepares to move on to his next career chapter, he can be here with us to help assure a seamless leadership transition,” Jbara said in a statement. Wolk guided “ADA through some fairly significant transitions, and…doing so while enhancing its stature as the No. 1 indie distributor in the business.”
The company aggressively expanded its worldwide presence, and now includes ADA Global, ADA UK, and ADA Nordic. It also added a new range of services for labels, including film and TV licensing, merchandising, and specialty businesses.
Jbara also noted that its “a testament to the depth of talent we have at ADA to be able to move David into this important role.”
