MCA recording artist David Nail has a lot to be happy about these days. First of all, his beloved St. Louis Cardinals shocked the baseball world by winning the World Series — the Missouri native was there for the euphoric moment, earlier performing “God Bless America” during the seventh-inning stretch of Game 7 (Oct. 28). “WE are the SHOW ME STATE, and we done just showed ya!” he said on Twitter following the win, referring to Missouri’s unnofficial state slogan.

Meanwhile, his latest single, “Let It Rain” continues to race toward the upper echelon of the singles chart, becoming a favorite of fans and radio alike. It currently resides at No. 13 on the Country Songs chart.
Wednesday night, at the Peter Nappi studios in the historic Germantown district of Nashville, Nail gave industry insiders a sneak peek of his upcoming “The Sound Of A Million Dreams” disc.
Universal head Luke Lewis gave Nail a very tongue-in-cheek introduction, referring to the fact that the singer had a less successful stint with Mercury about a decade ago. Lewis joked that he “signed him years ago. And dropped him because he was an asshole… He’s still one, but not as much.”
Nail responded with a smile by saying he’d been introduced a lot of way before, “but not like that,” then tipped his hat to the staff of the label, saying that he was proud to be associated with them — the only label he had ever worked with. He then proceeded to play music from the new project for the packed house.
One of the highlights of the evening was the stunning title cut, which gives Nail a chance to show his expansive vocal range. The singer also performed his current single, as well as “Red Light,” the track that became his first major hit.
“The Sound Of A Million Dreams” was produced by Frank Liddell and Chuck Ainlay, and features appearances by Sarah Buxton on “Let It Rain,” Lee Ann Womack on “Songs For Sale,” and Will Hoge on “Catherine.”
The album drops on Nov. 15, and Nail is in the midst of a tour to promote it. Tonight (Nov. 3), he will be playing the Copper Dragon in Carbondale, IL, and Saturday finds him opening for Taylor Swift at Minute Maid Park in Houston, TX.
