David Massey has been named executive VP of A&R for Sony Music Label Group U.S. and president of the Daylight Records imprint.
He is based in New York and reports to president/CEO Don Ienner.
Massey had been executive VP of A&R for Sony Music U.S. and International, a role he held since 2003. In his new post, he will work closely with Columbia Records Group president Will Botwin and Epic Records president Steve Barnett to expand Sony’s A&R activities in the United States and around the world.
Daylight Records will continue to serve as an A&R resource for the Sony Music Label Group, including Columbia Records Group, Epic Records and the RED-distributed labels.
Massey founded Daylightin late 2000 as a label under Epic Records Group. It has subsequently signed and developed a broad array of artists, including Anastacia, Good Charlotte and Phantom Planet.
Upcoming Daylight projects include debut releases from Nicholas Jonas and Cheyenne Kimball, as well as the U.S. bow of Australia’s Delta Goodrem.
