Last week, David Guetta, Bebe Rexha, and J Balvin shared the electrifyingly neon music video for their Latin-dance pop track “Say My Name,” and during the shooting of the video, Billboard stopped by to chat with the artists about their collaboration and the “sexy, sweaty” visuals, directed by Hannah Lux Davis.
Rexha tells Billboard that the director wanted to recreate a “neon forest” with “sexy, sweaty vibes” and “fun dancing.”
“We’re all just glowing in the dark, and just having the best time of our lives,” she continues, adding with a laugh, “Just sweating all our calories away.”
Balvin also weighs in on the Latin-EDM crossover, explaining that the two genres have always been very close. “Now it’s the time to really fusion these two sounds,” he says, “And that’s what’s going on right now.”
“It’s such an interesting combination,” Guetta states. “Some pop parts, some reggaeton parts, some electronic part, it’s also very minimal. It is hard to make, as a producer, a record that has very very little amount of elements of sounds and it’s challenging, but when you make it, it’s amazing!”
“When you perform a dance song, compared to any other record, that’s the moment I feel like the crowd is really hyped,” says Rexha. “I think that dance music will never die because people are always gonna wanna dance.”
