Will lightning strike twice for David Fincher? The director of the critically acclaimed “The Social Network” will reteam with Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor for the screen adaptation of Stieg Larsson’s bestselling crime novel “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo,” he revealed to the New York Times.
Reznor will again work with “Social Network” partner Atticus Ross (the two received Golden Globe nominations for Best Original Score) in orchestrating the music for what’s sure to be another eerie Finchian vision. Reports reveal that they are two months into the composition process.
The film’s cast has already been announced, with actress Rooney Mara, who gave a brief yet biting performance as Mark Zuckerberg’s disgruntled ex-girlfriend Erica Albright, set to play the lead role of Lisbeth Salander. Daniel Craig, Stellan Skarsgard, Robin Wright and Christopher Plummer are also slated to appear in the film, which Sony has scheduled for release on Dec. 21.
