Title: “The Next Day” | Release Date: March 12, 2013
Though the first single “Where Are We Now?” is soft and ambient, producer Tony Visconti promises that David Bowie’s first new album in a decade rocks. “Most of the album is up-tempo rock songs,” Visconti says. Though there will also be “some very innovative new styles as well.” “The Next Day” was recorded in secret, with signed non-disclosure agreements by a crew that includes Bowie regulars like Earl Slick and Gerry Leonard on guitar, Gail Ann Dorsey on bass and Zach Alford and Sterling Campbell on drums. Bowie doesn’t plan to tour, but Visconti has held out hope for an odd performance or two, as well as more new music in the near future.
