“The Dark Knight Original Motion Picture Soundtrack,” featuring the film’s score by Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard, will be released on July 15 on Warner Bros. Records.
The soundtrack will be released in four different versions: a standard CD, a two-LP set made from heavyweight 180-gram vinyl, a special edition Digipak, and a collector’s edition with artwork.
Zimmer and Howard worked together on director Christopher Nolan’s first
interpretation of the Batman saga, 2005’s “Batman Begins.” The score for “The Dark Knight” was recorded in London in April.
Zimmer won an Academy Award for his score for “The Lion King” and has been nominated six additional times; Howard has been nominated for an Oscar seven times.
“The Dark Knight” stars Christian Bale, Heath Ledger and Michael Caine, and opens July 18.
