Darius Rucker’s band Hootie & the Blowfish won GRAMMYs for best new artist and best pop performance by a duo or group with vocal for 1994’s “Let Her Cry.”
DARIUS RUCKER: “Winning two GRAMMYs was the highlight of my career with Hootie. We kind of expected best new artist, but we were blown away by our win for pop performance. They are next to my trophy for becoming a member of the Opry and my CMA Award. About 10 years ago a hurricane was near Charleston [S.C.] and my wife called and I said, ‘Grab my GRAMMYs and get out!’”
