The new video for “Dar Um Jeito (We Will Find a Way)” Santana, Wyclef, Avicii and Alexandre Pires’s official World Cup Anthem, promises a performance at the World Cup Closing Ceremony that will best Pitbull and JLo’s much maligned appearance at the tournament’s opener last month.
Cute Brazilian kids and players on the pitch join the artists in the video released today (July 1) in anticipation of the World Cup closing ceremony at Rio’s Maracana Stadium on July 13.
Like many a World cup spot, this one fuses a high energy performance with a simplistic inspirational Brazilian story – kids too poor to own a soccer ball triumph in a favela futebol game.
Santana shows off his legendary guitar skills backed by Brazilian percussionists before a jumping crowd in a baile funk club. And smartly, Brazilian singer Pires is featured prominently, which could deflect the criticism that tagged Pitbull’s song for “not being Brazilian enough.”
The video’s natural good time vibe bodes well for the performance at the World Cup victory celebration on July 13. While Santana, Wyclef and Pires have been announced for the event, Avicii is not listed on the bill.
Justin Francis, whose long list of credits includes clips for Alicia Keys, Weezer, and Kelly Clarkson, directed the video.
