Normani Kordei defied the pain of a twisted ankle to nail a pair of performances with her partner Val Chmerkovskiy on round-one of the two-night Dancing With the Stars finale.
The Fifth Harmony singer injured her ankle in rehearsals for Monday night’s competition, but she shrugged off the setback as she hit the floor for two impressive routines.
Kordei and Chmerkovskiy performed a quickstep to “Check It Out” by Oh The Larceny, which earned
a score of 38 out of 40 from the judges.
And later in the night, the duo landed a perfect score for their freestyle dance to Andra Day’s “What the World Needs Now Is Love,” a result good enough for second-place leading into the season 24 finale. The big winner will be announced Tuesday night.
