You must have heard it by now. It’s the sound clip that’s sweeping socials, and thanks to OG poster Cloe Feldman, everyone you know can rep the colors of #TeamYanny or #TeamLaurel.
It is, in fact, a computerized pronunciation of the name “Laurel,” and while many individuals say they hear it loud and clear, numerous others claim those people are insane not to hear “Yanny.” It definitely has to do with pitch and sound settings on whatever device you’re using. Some claim listening on one’s phone gives more of a “Yanny” feel, while computers tend to give clear “Laurel” signals. Of course, the only thing that matters is what your favorite DJ or producer hears. They have the golden ears, after all.
The dance world is split on both sides. Some have had full-on conversations about it. Some even use the meme as an opportunity to promote their forthcoming releases. Where does your favorite stand?
Laurel.
