With his opera recording, “Dr Dee,” out today, Damon Albarn is already at work on his next project.
The former Blur and Gorillaz frontman told the BBC Radio 4 that the future album will be released as Damon Albarn, not via one of his numerous projects.
“This week we’re mucking around with these Russian synthesizers in a very loose mind of doing some kind of record under my name,” he said. “I suppose you could call it a solo record, but I don’t like that word. It sounds very lonely – solo. I don’t really want to be solo in my life. But yeah, I’m making another record.”
He also addressed Blur’s upcoming Olympics performance in August, saying the games’ “corporate side, I find a bit depressing.”
Instead, he says the group will reunite once again “for London and people who hopefully want to sing their hearts out in a park.”
“I’m seeing it as a punctuation point,” Albarn added. “That can be whatever you choose to make it.”
