Damon Albarn has given another clear sign that a new Blur album is coming. Though it’ll have to wait until his solo album is done and dusted. And when that will happen is anyone’s guess.
The singer has opened-up to the Wall Street Journal about his first solo album, noting it was “quite intimate” and that it would be released in the near future. But he declined to give a specific release date. New Blur music would follow, he said.

Albarn hinted at a show in Hong Kong earlier this year that Blur was keen to “record another record.”
Albarn is something of a serial creator. Since Blur’s last studio album, 2003’s “Think Tank,” he’s had global success with Gorillaz, formed a new band The Good, The Bad and The Queen, developed the “Dr Dee” opera, and scored the show “Monkey: Journey to the West,” which is on a New York run until July 28.
The “Monkey” production incorporates animation and design work from Gorillaz collaborator Jamie Hewlett.
Albarn is also involved in a so-called “supergroup” called Fresh Touch, which counts Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Flea, Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Nick Zinner and Franz Ferdinand’s Alex Kapranos among its collaborators. Fresh Touch will release a single, “Latest Style,” to benefit Oxfam’s Syria Crisis Appeal.
Albarn had recently told Rolling Stone that he would hit the road in support of his solo album. Which begs the question — where will he find the time to hit the studio with his Blur bandmates?
Blur have European touring commitments this summer, and south America dates in November.
