French electronica duo Daft Punk will return this spring with its third studio album, “Human After All.” The 10-track set will be released March 21 internationally via Virgin and a day later in North America. Although its Daft Punk’s first album since 2001’s “Discovery,” the set was assembled over the course of just six weeks this fall in the act’s Paris home studio.
“Human After All” is said to be “more spontaneous and direct” than Daft Punk’s prior releases, incorporating dashes of rock’n’roll on “Robot Rock” and un-ironic emotional sentiments on “Make Love.”
“Discovery” peaked at No. 3 on Billboard’s Top Electronic Albums chart and has sold 526,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It spawned four top-10 hits on Billboard’s Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart: “One More Time” (No. 1), “Face to Face” (No. 1), “Harder Better Faster Stronger” (No. 3) and “Digital Love” (No. 9).
Since the release of the album, Daft Punk principals Thomas Bangalter and Guy Manuel de Homem Christo have scored the animated film “Interstella 5555,” sold action figures of the film’s characters on their remix collection “Daft Club.”
